The sun sinks in the sky, dipping below the horizon. The call to prayer rings out across the city, millions find their way to a table; dates are offered, and water is poured into small glasses as Muslims all over the world break their fast.
Ramadan has begun.
Over 2 billion Muslims will celebrate the holy month of Ramadan this February, fasting throughout the day as a way to recenter on gratitude and compassion.
This Ramadan, let’s all consider the food on our plates, the resources each bite takes, the hands that prepared it, and the global systems that bring ingredients from all over the world to our homes. How can we reduce our food waste and become better stewards of the Earth during this time?
We invite you to join us this Ramadan in mindful consumption, giving thanks to our planet for its bounty, and sharing what we have with those in need.
