Joy is our anchor.

As climate change works across the face of our planet, leaving in its wake extreme weather events, we have to find ways of centring joy. Community can become that safe haven.

We are constantly confronted with loss, anxiety, and a pervasive sense of urgency. In the face of these challenges, empowering and supporting our communities becomes an act of resilience.

Community can be a fortified space where shared sorrow is acknowledged, and where collective hope and action are nurtured. Traditional festivities, moments of celebration, even sharing a meal, allow us to face the future not with fear but with an enduring sense of togetherness.

This award-winning photograph is from the seventh season, “The Moment”, of the Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) Archive. The Climate Tribe has partnered with HIPA, leveraging the power of photography to inspire global awareness of sustainability and advance climate action.
