The desert is alive.

While the deserts of the world may often seem like a dry, empty place, the truth is that these incredible ecosystems are teeming with life. Life that has evolved to perfectly survive the sweltering daily temperatures and freezing cold nights.

Oman, with its diverse landscapes, is home to a wide variety of native species, from the collared kingfisher to golden eagles, bird watchers have plenty of dramatic subjects to photograph.

As we move into the New Year, let’s leave space for surprising and unexpected situations. What incredible new species will be discovered? What ecosystems will be preserved? What unique vistas will we witness?

This award-winning photograph is from the seventh season, “The Moment”, of the Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) Archive. The Climate Tribe has partnered with HIPA, leveraging the power of photography to inspire global awareness of sustainability and advance climate action.
